How is the Hue light being controlled, IFTTT?

The Hue bridge can be accessed locally through REST HTTP calls. But Hue integration can be taken much further, including color changes and dimming – you might want to check out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czq3S13tGVk.

We have direct control of the Hue bulb with SmartThings.

And I should note that the Local LAN connection between SmartThings and Hue is not yet public but being released soon.

Ahhhhh, dare you use technology not publically available! Man I have been waiting for this piece of integration for some time! How will we know when it is released will the ST application just have a new icon?

We’ll announce it – it seems you stay pretty up to date, but be sure to follow us on Facebook, sign up for our mailing list (from the SmartThings homepage), and of course, this blog!

One other question. When the ST control of the Hue light is finally released will the ST hub be speaking directly to the lights? Or ST Hub > Hue Hub > hue lights? I’m trying to determine if I can get rid of this Philips Hue hub.
