SmartThings + Spruce

A smart home needs a smart yard. Take the guesswork out of gardening with Spruce, the latest addition to the growing list of products compatible with SmartThings.

Spruce AppWhether you have the world’s greenest thumb or a, shall we say, less-than-stellar record with plants, adding Spruce to SmartThings gives you the perfect lawn, garden, or landscaping at the touch of a button. Traditional sprinkler systems can be put on timers, but those only give you control over when your lawn gets watered. Spruce’s sleek, 16-zone irrigation controller and wireless Sensors, which contain both temperature and moisture meters, give you control over how your lawn gets watered.

After getting set up (which should take only a few minutes), Spruce starts looking at the best times for watering through a combination of real-time soil moisture readings, the weather prediction for your area, the time of year, and your personal preferences, and then gets right to work.

The best part? Spruce was designed from the beginning to work with SmartThings, so you know it has some serious brainpower.

  1. Dear Spruce, Thank you for letting me know my backordered system will now take until the end of June to get here … I am looking forward to winter when I will finally have my new irrigation system. Perhaps by spring 2017 I will be able to use it and it will be out of warranty. Meanwhile the money you save me every summer from 2018 forward will be going to the interest on the credit card that I have placed my order for the money saving Spruce system. Regards, Customer #1244

    • Hi Greg,
We understand your frustration with a 4-week delay. Per communication to you from the founder a few days ago if you wish to cancel your order please let him know and a refund will be issued.

  2. I would not buy this…the quality of this is awful for what you spend. I had the blossum (regret selling it) and thought it would be cool to integrate it with Smart Things, however the Spruce Controller is so cheaply made the faceplate will lose connection with just a breath of air. I plan on posting the videos on youtube soon. The moment I took this out of the box I knew that it would be problems. The function buttons and the zone touch buttons are so crappy designed that if you BARELY press one zone it will light up a few zones.
