How to: Build a SmartThings-Powered Clapper
Home automation was in its infancy in the late 1980s when The Clapper, a switch that triggered your lights and other devices to activate whenever people (you guessed it…) clapped, became popular.
Want to create your own SmartThings-powered Clapper? Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 Arduino Uno board ($24.95)
- 1 tiny breadboard ($4)
- 1 SmartThings ThingsShield ($35)
- 1 microphone amplifier ($6.95)
- 1 SmartPower Outlet ($55)
You can find the full instructions for building it on the Community site.
Let us know if you’re able to either recreate this or improve upon it. And if you shoot a quick video showing it off, we’ll highlight it here on the blog!
